Altcoin Price Predictions Signal Mixed Outlook for Dogecoin, Zcash, Cardano, Solana

As August 2026 opens, Dogecoin (DOGE), Zcash (ZEC), Cardano (ADA), and Solana (SOL) each confront critical technical thresholds, with analysts offering cautious altcoin price predictions for the month ahead. While Dogecoin remains entrenched in a bearish pattern, struggling to find upward momentum, Zcash is at a crucial support level after a recent pullback.

Cardano shows modest signs of stabilization within a prolonged downtrend, and Solana is caught in a tight trading range, unable to extend its July recovery.

Dogecoin grapples with bearish pressure and August forecasts

The immediate outlook for these major altcoins hinges on their ability to defend current support zones and reclaim key moving averages. Traders are closely watching for definitive breaks that could signal either a deeper slide or the start of a more sustained recovery for these digital assets.

Dogecoin is currently hovering around $0.069, just above a crucial psychological support zone. The meme coin has seen a steady decline since failing to hold above $0.11 in May, marking a period of sustained bearish dominance. All significant moving averages—the 50-day ($0.073), 100-day ($0.078), and 200-day ($0.101)—are in bearish order, with DOGE trading beneath them.

Every market rally for Dogecoin has been met with fresh selling pressure, indicating a deeply stacked resistance structure. Trading volume has drastically decreased during its recent decline, suggesting sellers aren’t in a panic but significant buying interest is absent. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 39, well below neutral, confirms persistent bearish momentum.

Despite this, DOGE has stabilized over recent sessions, preventing another wave of selling. A relief rally toward the 50-day moving average is possible if the current floor holds. However, reclaiming the 100-day moving average is essential for a medium-term outlook improvement. A clear break below $0.068 would likely expose new yearly lows, extending the overall downtrend.

Analysts from Cryptonews.net forecast a dynamic August for DOGE. Early August could see prices between $0.065 and $0.078, testing the demand zone’s resilience. Mid-month forecasts suggest $0.062 to $0.082, with historical seasonal weakness often peaking. The month’s end might extend the range to $0.060-$0.085 as “September FOMC pricing builds.”

Key resistance lies at the 20-day EMA cluster ($0.07180) and the 50-day EMA ($0.07679). An upside move could be fueled by the CLARITY Act’s passage before August 8. Conversely, a demand zone breakdown could push DOGE towards $0.0575. Top traders on Binance, holding a 3.74 long/short ratio, show a net long position, indicating some anticipation of a bounce despite current market challenges.

Zcash navigates critical recovery phase amidst profit-taking

Zcash (ZEC) finds itself in a crucial technical phase, pulling back towards major moving-average support after its July rally. ZEC trades at approximately $457, having fallen from a recent local high of about $580. This decline has returned the asset to a significant technical support confluence.

The 50-day moving average sits near $461, with the 100-day around $475. ZEC’s price is fluctuating around these indicators, making upcoming sessions particularly important. This pullback appears more controlled than earlier market surrenders seen this year, with continuously decreasing volume suggesting profit-taking rather than panic selling.

However, momentum has weakened, with the RSI dropping to about 42, indicating a loss of short-term control by bulls. The broader recovery from April’s lows remains intact as long as ZEC stays above the 200-day moving average at $413. Buyers’ immediate challenge is to recover the 100-day moving average around $475.

A successful move above this resistance could significantly improve sentiment and open the door for another attempt at the psychologically important $500 level, followed by the $520–$540 range. Failure to hold these levels could lead to a deeper retracement.

Cardano’s cautious climb from bear stage into consolidation

Cardano (ADA) has endured a long-lasting bear stage, yet recent weeks show modest technical improvements. The asset has stabilized around $0.168, with buyers successfully defending the $0.15 area. Critically, ADA has held above its 50-day and 100-day moving averages, now between $0.165 and $0.166, which have transitioned from resistance to support. This shift provides bulls with a much-needed starting point.

However, the 200-day moving average, still declining near $0.197, remains a significant hurdle. A longer-term bullish trend won’t be confirmed until ADA reclaims this level. Price action indicates cautious but increasing activity from buyers. Cardano spent much of July consolidating within a narrow range, a pattern often preceding a more significant directional shift.

The RSI has risen to approximately 51, moving above the neutral 50 level. This suggests momentum has shifted away from sellers without becoming overheated, providing room for an upward push if buying volume increases. The first resistance barrier for ADA is around $0.18, followed by the more substantial 200-day moving average at $0.20.

Breaking above $0.20 would represent Cardano’s strongest bullish signal in months, potentially attracting more momentum buyers. Maintaining support above the 50-day moving average is crucial; losing the $0.165 area could invalidate the recent recovery and lead to a return to June lows.

Solana struggles in sideways channel amidst negative trend

Solana (SOL) remains stuck in a phase of sideways trading, with prices oscillating between $73 and $75, failing to prolong its July recovery. The asset has avoided another significant breakdown, but buyers have struggled to regain key technical levels needed for a longer-lasting trend reversal. SOL currently trades near $73.6, just below its short-term moving averages.

An immediate resistance cluster, formed by the 50-day moving average around $74.9 and the 100-day near $75.8, has repeatedly thwarted attempts to move higher over the past two weeks. Unlike several other large-cap altcoins, Solana hasn’t sustained its bullish momentum following its June rebound.

The chart has been dominated by lower highs since the May peak, with fresh selling meeting every rally toward the $80 region.

The overall trend for Solana remains negative, indicated by the 200-day moving average still significantly higher at $92. Until SOL begins reclaiming medium-term moving averages and challenges the 200-day average, market rebounds will likely be viewed as corrective rather than the start of a new bull phase.

Momentum indicators, like the RSI at around 44 (below neutral), reflect this lack of conviction, suggesting sellers maintain a slight advantage.

The most crucial support for Solana lies between $72 and $73, a zone bulls have successfully defended multiple times throughout July, preventing a deeper retreat. A decisive breakdown here could reveal the June low around $68.

Regaining the 50-day and 100-day moving averages is the primary goal for buyers, as a successful close above both would boost the likelihood of another attempt toward the psychological $80 resistance and improve the short-term outlook. Only then would the 200-day moving average near $92 come into focus.

For now, Solana remains range-bound, waiting for a clearer directional signal.

August 2026: A pivotal month for altcoin trajectories

The opening days of August 2026 present a pivotal period for these leading altcoins, each at a distinct technical crossroad.

Dogecoin’s battle against persistent bearish momentum, Zcash’s attempt to solidify its recovery, Cardano’s gradual ascent from its bear market, and Solana’s struggle to break its sideways pattern collectively paint a picture of cautious anticipation across the crypto market.

While individual trajectories will vary, the next few weeks are set to test the resilience of support levels and the strength of nascent bullish signals.

The broader sentiment, coupled with potential regulatory shifts like the CLARITY Act mentioned in Dogecoin’s forecast, could introduce volatility. Investors and traders will be scrutinizing volume trends and momentum shifts for clearer signals of directional change. How these assets navigate their respective technical challenges in August will likely shape their performance through the remainder of the third quarter, influencing broader altcoin price predictions.
