TRON reports $37.8M August revenue as whale orders climb, eyeing TRX breakout

TRON (TRX) generated $37.78 million in protocol revenue during the first five days of August. 78 million in protocol revenue during the first five days of August, signaling robust network activity as its native token, TRX, navigates a potential price breakout. This significant revenue, averaging $7.56 million daily, aligns with a noticeable increase in whale-sized orders and a surge in daily active users on the network.

The burgeoning engagement and financial performance suggest TRON is building momentum, raising questions about whether these trends can sustain a significant upward move for TRX, which has recently tested critical support levels.

TRON revenue fuels network expansion

TRON’s network recorded impressive growth in early August, with its protocol revenue hitting $37.78 million from August 1st to August 5th. This steady daily income, which hovered between $6.52 million and $8.14 million, underscores consistent demand for the blockchain’s services.

During this period, the network’s total account count swelled to 397.08 million. It’s expanding by roughly 0.05% each day, indicating a continuous influx of new users and broader adoption.

Moreover, TRON’s daily active users climbed to 4.2 million, a figure representing one of its strongest readings in recent weeks. This heightened user engagement typically correlates with increased network utilization, which directly supports protocol revenue as transaction demand remains elevated.

The cumulative transactions processed on the TRON network have now surpassed 15 billion, reaching 15.01 billion by August 4th. This growth is predominantly driven by a substantial increase in TRX transfers, averaging around 4.73 million daily throughout July.

Whale activity points to growing TRX confidence

The recent increase in TRON’s protocol revenue coincides with a notable uptick in whale-sized orders for TRX. Data on Futures Average Order Size shows larger transactions occurring near TRX’s current trading price of approximately $0.328.

This pattern indicates that high-net-worth individuals and institutional players, often referred to as whales, remain actively involved in the TRX market. Their sustained presence suggests a growing confidence in TRON’s long-term prospects.

Since January 1st, the monthly average of whale transactions has jumped from 1.23 million to 1.43 million. The yearly average also saw an increase, moving from 1.20 million to 1.32 million, effectively doubling since January 2021.

Such significant whale activity historically influences both TRX’s trading volume and its price volatility. The recent surge in large orders and overall trading volume implies heightened interest from major investors, potentially setting the stage for significant price movements.

It’s important to note that while large orders show activity, they don’t automatically confirm net accumulation. Whales could be engaging in a variety of strategies, including profit-taking or rebalancing portfolios, rather than exclusively buying up tokens.

TRX price eyes critical support for potential rally

From a technical standpoint, TRX has been consolidating within a bullish pennant pattern over the past few weeks. This formation often precedes a strong price move once the asset breaks out.

The token is currently testing its Exponential Moving Average (EMA) support level near $0.323. Maintaining this support is crucial for building a strong foundation for any potential upward trajectory.

Adding to the technical indicators, TRON’s Stochastic Relative Strength Index (RSI) recently dropped to 34, approaching oversold territory. Historically, similar low readings have often preceded price reversals, hinting at a possible bounce for TRX.

A successful defense of the $0.323 support level would significantly strengthen the argument for a bullish breakout, potentially pushing TRX towards higher resistance levels. However, a breakdown below this key support could delay any immediate rally, sending the token into further consolidation or a downward trend.

TRX currently trades around $0.328, which is approximately 26% below its all-time high of $0.44, recorded in December 2024. Technical projections, based on Fibonacci extensions, suggest potential price targets at $0.30, $0.40, and $0.60 if a breakout occurs.

Driving factors behind TRON’s continued traction

TRON’s sustained growth in revenue and user base isn’t just a fleeting trend; it’s rooted in several core advantages that appeal to a broad demographic. The network’s low transaction fees and high-speed processing capabilities have made it particularly attractive, especially in emerging markets where efficiency is paramount.

The blockchain’s dominance in USDT transactions further solidifies its position. TRON processes over 70% of all Tether (USDT) transactions globally, surpassing both Ethereum and various centralized exchanges. This extensive use case drives significant network activity and adoption.

Daily peer-to-peer (P2P) USDT transactions on TRON have tripled since 2023, showcasing its utility for everyday financial activities. The total value locked (TVL) on TRON has also exceeded $26.9 billion, reflecting substantial capital commitment within its ecosystem.

A recent network upgrade further boosted transaction efficiency and user retention, contributing to the positive metrics. Additionally, TRON’s inclusion in the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index underscores its recognized standing within the broader crypto investment landscape, considering factors like blockchain use, liquidity, and network activity.

The total staked supply of TRX has also seen a modest increase of 0.481%, now reaching 44.21 billion TRX. This indicates that more tokens are being locked up in staking mechanisms, further contributing to network security and stability.
