XRP Price Confronts Fading ETF Demand Despite Bullish Chart Signals

The XRP cryptocurrency confronts a critical juncture today, July 23, 2026, as a generally bullish chart structure clashes with a sharp decline in institutional investment. While XRP’s price holds above $1.13, its Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have seen inflows collapse to $12 million this month.

This significant reduction in capital flow contrasts with technical indicators that suggest potential upward movement. The divergence creates considerable uncertainty for XRP’s short-term price direction. Market participants are now weighing the implications of waning institutional demand against a resilient technical outlook.

This tension means the market is at a critical juncture. Bears are watching for a drop below $1.00, while bulls hope for a rebound supported by fresh capital and increased XRP Ledger activity. The coming weeks will likely dictate whether technical strength or institutional caution prevails.

XRP Builds a Bullish Cup and Handle as Selling Fades

Despite recent market volatility, XRP’s chart maintains a bullish structure, specifically a “cup and handle” formation that has been developing since early July. This pattern often forms before a significant price breakout. The current consolidation, which began around July 21, fits neatly into the “handle” portion of this bullish setup.

Crucially, trading volume has thinned during this recent price slide. This declining sell volume suggests that the pullback is more of a pause than a panicked sell-off. This supports the bullish breakout case for XRP, indicating a potential for price appreciation if the pattern resolves upwards.

But a clean chart structure means little if the buying pressure dissipates. Even with a promising technical setup, sustained institutional interest is often required to fuel significant upward movements in the crypto market.

XRP ETF Inflows Signal Cooling Demand

The inflow data for XRP Exchange Traded Funds presents a subtle yet clear warning that’s easy to overlook at first glance. While XRP ETFs have seen positive inflows every month since their launch, the trend is unmistakably slowing. This indicates that institutional buyers may be quietly stepping back.

Monthly inflows climbed from $81.59 million in April to a peak of $131.94 million in May 2026. That strong performance saw XRP ETFs outperforming Bitcoin and Ethereum funds during May.

However, June saw inflows fall by more than half, dropping to $59.46 million. This deceleration has become even more pronounced in July, with funds attracting just $12.43 million so far this month—the weakest on record. Although the numbers remain positive, this steady slide signals a clear reduction in demand from institutional investors.

Total net assets across XRP-related exchange-traded products reached approximately $1.18 billion by December 14, 2025, following earlier net inflows. By June 29, 2026, total XRP ETF inflows were reported near $1.47 billion. This context underscores the significance of the recent slowdown, as even robust initial interest can wane.

Hodler Net Position Change Echoes a Familiar Warning

The behavior of long-term XRP holders, often referred to as “hodlers,” also offers a cautionary signal to the market. The Hodler Net Position Change metric tracks whether these long-term investors are adding to or trimming their XRP holdings. This metric has proven to be a reliable indicator of potential price movements.

Back on June 22, the Hodler Net Position Change registered one of its highest readings. From there, the metric steadily fell into July 1, a period that coincided with an XRP price correction. During this time, XRP’s price dipped from $1.13 to $1.05.

The price subsequently recovered as long-term holders began accumulating again, demonstrating a close correlation between hodler behavior and price action. However, since July 19, the metric has once more turned lower, easing from approximately 231 million to roughly 226 million XRP.

If this historical link continues to hold true, the current decline in long-term holder accumulation could lead to further price weakness. This on-chain signal reinforces the concerns raised by the cooling ETF inflows, adding another layer of uncertainty to XRP’s immediate outlook.

XRP Price Levels to Watch Now

Given the conflicting market signals, several key price levels will be crucial in determining XRP’s immediate future. The first significant hurdle for XRP’s price currently sits at $1.15, which aligns with the 0.618 Fibonacci zone—a strong technical level that often marks a pullback point within a prior move.

A clean break above $1.15 would crack the handle of the cup and handle pattern, bringing the cup neckline near $1.16 into play. Sustained movement above these levels could then open the path to $1.18 and potentially $1.21 for XRP.

It’s important to remember that XRP has a history of failed cup formations. For a breakout to be considered decisive, it needs a strong daily close above these resistance levels, not just a temporary wick. Traders should look for a confirmed move, ideally with increased volume, to validate any upside momentum.

On the downside, a drop below the current $1.13 level would expose further support. The next key levels to watch are $1.12, followed by the $1.09 support. A more significant fall below $1.05, which represents the cup low, would effectively void the bullish pattern entirely.

Should the $1.00 to $1.02 critical support range be lost, bearish targets of $0.95 and then $0.90 could quickly come into play. Analyst ChartNerd highlighted in June 2026 that being “beneath the EMAs” signaled a downtrend, emphasizing the importance of key moving averages.
