Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy Inc., confirmed on August 30, 2026, that the company will resume its aggressive Bitcoin buying strategy. , indicated on August 30, 2026, that the company is poised to resume its aggressive Bitcoin buying strategy.

His succinct “We’re Back” post on X, formerly Twitter, accompanied by a chart of Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings, immediately signaled an end to the firm’s two-month acquisition hiatus.

This declaration follows a strategic pause, during which the firm prioritized strengthening its balance sheet. Markets interpret Saylor’s message as a strong precursor to fresh capital deployment into the world’s largest cryptocurrency.

Strategy Bitcoin Buying Returns

Saylor’s weekend post has historically served as a strong indicator of forthcoming official announcements. Investors and market analysts now anticipate a formal disclosure of new Bitcoin buying activity. This potential move would mark Strategy’s first acquisition since late June 2026.

The company’s last reported Bitcoin purchase was on June 22, 2026, acquiring 520 BTC for approximately $34.9 million. That transaction, executed at an average price of $67,068 per coin, represented Strategy’s smallest acquisition of the year.

The subsequent pause in accumulation lasted roughly ten weeks, a notable break from the firm’s consistent acquisition pattern. During this period, the crypto community closely monitored Strategy’s next steps.

As of Saylor’s August 30 post, Strategy maintains substantial holdings of 840,447 BTC. These assets are valued at an estimated $65.72 billion based on current market prices.

This figure is slightly lower than the 847,363 BTC reported in late June, reflecting strategic sales during the recent interval. The firm actively managed its portfolio throughout the buying pause.

Traders on prediction market Polymarket reflect high conviction, with a 96% probability estimate for a Strategy Bitcoin buy announcement between August 25 and 31. This strong market expectation underscores the significance attached to Saylor’s social media activity. Formal news could emerge as early as Monday, August 31, 2026.

Strategic financial maneuvers during hiatus

Strategy utilized its temporary break from Bitcoin purchases for what CEO Phong Le described as “active capital management.” This period focused on enhancing the company’s financial robustness and flexibility. Le had previously suggested the firm could resume BTC acquisitions before year-end.

During the hiatus, Strategy successfully raised approximately $2 billion through the strategic sale of its MSTR stock. This significant capital infusion provided the company with additional resources, bolstering its overall financial position.

The firm simultaneously engaged in efforts to optimize its cash reserves. Further bolstering its financial standing, Strategy sold 1,690 BTC earlier in August, generating $108.6 million. These actions contributed to building substantial dollar liquidity.

The company now boasts an impressive $6.69 billion in total dollar liquidity. This comprises a $5.10 billion restricted USD reserve alongside $1.59 billion in USD cash. This robust financial buffer is sufficient to cover preferred dividend payments for roughly four years.

In a related move, Strategy repurchased 1.15 million shares of its STRC preferred stock. The dividend on this preferred stock was concurrently increased to 12 percent, effective July 1. These measures demonstrate a comprehensive capital management approach.

Holdings return to profitability amidst market shifts

Strategy’s extensive Bitcoin portfolio has recently returned to a state of profitability. The company’s average acquisition cost across its vast holdings is $75,653 per BTC. Bitcoin was trading near $79,000 on August 30, 2026, securing an unrealized gain for the firm.

The company now holds an estimated unrealized “paper” profit of $2.80 billion. This represents a significant reversal, as the portfolio faced over $10 billion in paper losses just weeks prior. The turnaround highlights Bitcoin’s recent price appreciation.

While the crypto market rallied, MSTR shares experienced a downturn, closing over 7% down on Friday, August 28, 2026. However, the company’s strengthened financial standing indicates a potential shift in capital allocation strategies. Future fundraising efforts may prioritize BTC accumulation and STRC buybacks.

Analysts suggest the improved financial flexibility could direct more capital towards Bitcoin rather than merely augmenting dollar reserves. This strategic pivot reinforces Strategy’s commitment to its core Bitcoin-centric investment thesis, especially as the Bitcoin price rally continues.

Michael Saylor’s “We’re Back” declaration unequivocally signals a renewed phase for Strategy’s Bitcoin strategy. This move, following a period of prudent financial consolidation, reaffirms the company’s conviction in digital assets. The cryptocurrency market now awaits the official confirmation of its next significant Bitcoin acquisition.
