Bitcoin ETF Inflows Hit Five-Day Streak

US spot Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) concluded their longest net inflow streak since early May on Monday, July 20, 2026, attracting approximately $727.3 million in fresh capital over five consecutive sessions. This marked a significant reversal after weeks of outflows, helping to push Bitcoin (BTC) above the $65,000 mark.

The sustained influx of investor funds suggests a potential turning point for these investment vehicles, which have navigated a challenging market environment for much of the past few months. It represents a notable shift in sentiment following a period of heavy redemptions.

Bitcoin ETF inflows rebound after prolonged drought

The recent five-day sequence saw considerable investor interest, culminating in a single-day inflow of $226.9 million on July 20 alone. This was the strongest daily performance for these funds since July 6, according to data provider SoSoValue, highlighting a renewed appetite for Bitcoin exposure.

The total net inflows over this five-day period reached approximately $727.3 million, making it the longest such run since a six-session stretch between April 30 and May 5. These consistent inflows have also helped reduce the year-to-date net outflows for US spot Bitcoin ETFs to below $5 billion.

A challenging first half of the year

This positive momentum follows an extended period of investor retreat from the sector. Over eight consecutive weeks, investors pulled more than $8.2 billion from US spot Bitcoin ETFs, marking the longest outflow streak in the category’s relatively short history.

June 2026 proved particularly difficult for these funds, registering substantial net outflows of $4.40 billion. That period underscored the volatility and sensitivity of crypto-backed products to broader market pressures.

The tide began to shift in early July, however, offering the first signs of a turnaround. On July 2, 2026, Bitcoin ETFs collectively posted an inflow of $221.72 million, breaking a 10-day outflow streak and contributing to the first weekly net inflow in two months.

cautious optimism surrounds Bitcoin’s price trajectory

The renewed interest in Bitcoin ETFs coincided with Bitcoin’s price climbing above $65,000. At the time of publication, BTC was trading at $65,879, representing a 3.3% increase over the preceding 24 hours, signaling market confidence.

Despite the positive trend, experts are approaching the situation with caution. Simon-Peter Massabni, head of business development at XS.com, suggested the recent inflows might indicate an easing of selling pressure more than a broad return of institutional demand.

Massabni emphasized a critical price range for Bitcoin to sustain its ascent. He stated that BTC would need to break and hold above the $65,000–$65,500 range to strengthen the case for a prolonged uptrend, indicating a key resistance level.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has continued to demonstrate resilience, leading in attracting capital even amid broader market weakness. IBIT consistently holds the most Bitcoin of any US spot ETF, reflecting its strong market position.

broader market sentiment and ETF parallels

The total assets under management for Bitcoin ETFs have now climbed back to about $79 billion, a notable recovery from a July low near $75 billion. This rebound highlights the market’s responsiveness to positive capital flows.

The trajectory of Bitcoin ETFs often draws comparisons to gold ETFs, which launched in 2004. Both asset classes tend to rely heavily on market sentiment rather than direct cash flow for their valuations, making them sensitive to investor perceptions.

Since their launch in January 2024, Bitcoin ETFs have rapidly accumulated over $38 billion in net inflows. Their total estimated Assets Under Management are now approaching $120 billion, showcasing significant growth in a relatively short timeframe.

Beyond Bitcoin, the broader cryptocurrency ETF market also saw positive movement. US spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $38.09 million in net inflows on July 20, 2026, following $18 million in the prior week, indicating growing interest in diversified crypto investment products.

This five-day inflow streak for Bitcoin ETFs marks a critical moment for the digital asset class, signaling renewed investor confidence after a challenging period. While market participants remain watchful, particularly regarding Bitcoin’s ability to consolidate its gains above key price levels, the sustained capital injection offers a much-needed boost to the sector.
