Ripple Treasury Bets on AI Agents to Make Corporate Finance Smarter

Ripple Treasury is getting an AI upgrade, as Ripple folds agent-style software into the corporate finance platform it acquired for $1 billion last year.

The move puts artificial intelligence inside some of the most consequential back-office decisions a company makes: tracking liquidity, assessing risk, building forecasts and reconciling financial data.

The new GSmart tools are part of Ripple Treasury, the former GTreasury business Ripple bought in October. Rather than handing an AI free rein over corporate money, the system is designed to act more like an unusually fast finance assistant.

It can watch treasury workflows, identify an issue, suggest a response and point to the company policy supporting that recommendation. A person still has to approve the action before anything happens.

That human checkpoint is doing important work. In corporate finance, an incorrect answer isn’t just a bad chatbot moment—it can have real consequences for how millions of dollars are managed.

Ripple says the underlying financial calculations are handled by deterministic software, while AI is used for tasks such as interpreting internal policies, identifying patterns and explaining why a particular recommendation was made.

Ripple Treasury Wants AI to Read the Fine Print

GSmart isn’t brand new. The product launched in June 2025, before Ripple acquired GTreasury, but the latest release expands its reach across more of the treasury process.

It also introduces Knowledge Studio, a policy-focused layer designed to give the system access to the rules that govern a company’s financial operations.

Alongside it comes Ask GSmart, an assistant that lets finance teams query corporate financial data instead of digging through systems manually.

The combination points to a specific vision for Ripple Treasury: AI that doesn’t simply generate answers, but operates within the policies and data structures already used by finance departments.

And adoption is already underway. Ripple says 60% of eligible customers have enabled Risk Insights, while 44% are using Forecast Insights.

The AI push also fits into a broader strategy for Ripple Treasury. Earlier this year, CoinDesk reported that Ripple had started integrating digital assets directly into the treasury software, giving corporate finance teams a way to manage them alongside conventional cash.

That means the platform is expanding beyond the traditional boundaries of treasury management. Companies can now use the same software to oversee both traditional and digital assets, while AI sits on top of the workflow to help interpret the information and suggest next steps.

Ripple Treasury is therefore becoming less about simply displaying financial data and more about helping finance teams decide what to do with it—while leaving the final click firmly in human hands.
