Each ERC-8183 job encapsulates the task definition, specifies escrowed payment terms, outlines independent evaluation criteria, and includes the on-chain settlement mechanism. These components are integrated within a single smart contract interface.

The process involves three main roles: a client who creates the job and sets the payment, a provider who performs the work, and an evaluator who confirms completion. This setup ensures verifiable execution and payment release.

This framework is further bolstered by its compatibility with other key standards. ERC-8004 provides on-chain identity management for agents, while the x402 protocol facilitates efficient micropayments.

Collectively, these standards form a robust technological stack designed to support scalable agent-driven commerce. As of March 11, 2026, over 85,788 agents are registered via ERC-8004 across more than 18 EVM chains, demonstrating widespread adoption.
