Crypto Valley Pioneer Bitcoin Suisse Job Cuts Signal a Pivotal Offshore Pivot

Switzerland’s premier crypto bastion is packing its administrative bags. The latest Bitcoin Suisse job cuts mark a dramatic corporate evolution, shedding up to half of the company’s workforce at its iconic Zug headquarters as the firm swaps Alpine prestige for lower-cost tech hubs abroad.

During a Friday morning town hall, executives informed staff that up to 60 administrative and back-office roles will be relocated to Bratislava, Slovakia, and a new planned hub in Vietnam. While the exact headcounts will be set following a 10-day consultation, the Bitcoin Suisse job cuts will begin taking effect before the year draws to a close.

Launched in 2013 as a pioneer in digital asset trading and secure custody, the enterprise later expanded into lending and staking. Today, it is shedding its identity as a regional specialist to chase high-net-worth private clients, family offices, and institutional capital across the globe.

“In the past, our focus was primarily on Switzerland. Now, international growth is our priority,” Group CEO and co-founder Andrej Majcen told Finews.

To support this international ambition, the company spent the summer stacking regulatory accreditations: a MiCAR license in Liechtenstein, digital-asset and investment licenses in Bermuda, and full regulatory approval from Abu Dhabi’s regulator.

What the Bitcoin Suisse Job Cuts Say About Overhead

Majcen clarified that the Bitcoin Suisse job cuts stem strictly from operational efficiency, noting that delivering administrative services out of Bratislava and Vietnam is far more cost-effective.

He stressed that the restructuring isn’t tied to market downturns, pointing out that the firm retains plenty of financial cushion to weather broader volatility.

Even with a leaner headcount on home turf, Zug remains the official corporate headquarters. The company intends to keep its signature name intact and remains open to acquiring other Swiss assets down the line, even as its operational center of gravity shifts overseas.
