Bitcoin ETFs Lose $463M as Ether Funds Pull Off a $197M Rebound

Bitcoin ETFs just snapped a three-week streak of inflows, losing $462.7 million over the latest four trading sessions. At the same time, Ether ETFs moved in the opposite direction, pulling in nearly $197 million as investor flows split sharply between the two biggest crypto assets.

The reversal came during a holiday-shortened US trading week, with withdrawals hitting Bitcoin funds every day from Tuesday through Friday. According to Farside Investors, the selling arrived just after the strongest three-week stretch of inflows for Bitcoin ETFs in 2026.

The first two trading sessions already accounted for $166.8 million in net outflows. But Thursday delivered the real jolt, with spot Bitcoin ETFs losing $282.7 million, their largest single-day withdrawal since July.

Friday brought some relief, with outflows slowing to $13.2 million. Still, that was enough to extend the streak of withdrawals to four consecutive sessions, according to SoSoValue.

Bitcoin ETFs are losing ground while Ether finds a bid

The weekly losses were not evenly distributed across the funds. ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF led the retreat with $234.2 million in net outflows.

Grayscale’s Bitcoin Trust ETF followed with $129.1 million withdrawn over the week. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF saw $52.5 million in outflows, while Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund lost another $50.7 million.

The numbers look more dramatic when viewed against the recent momentum. Bitcoin ETFs had just completed their strongest three-week run of inflows this year, making the reversal stand out even more.

And yet, the broader monthly picture is still positive. Despite the latest selling, spot Bitcoin ETFs remained in net inflow territory for September, with roughly $307.3 million entering the funds through Friday.

That leaves the market in a more complicated position than a simple week of redemptions might suggest. The latest flows show investors pulling money from Bitcoin ETFs, but they do not erase the positive balance built earlier in the month.

Ether ETFs, meanwhile, delivered a strikingly different performance.

US spot Ether ETFs recorded $196.9 million in net inflows across the same four-session period, according to Farside Investors. The path was hardly smooth, with the funds posting $24.3 million in outflows on Tuesday and $29.9 million on Thursday.

Wednesday offered a modest counterpoint, bringing in $34.7 million. Then Friday changed the tone entirely.

Ether ETFs attracted $216.4 million in net inflows on Friday alone, more than offsetting the losses recorded earlier in the week. BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust ETF accounted for $148.8 million of that total, while the 21Shares Core Ethereum ETF added $29.1 million.

The contrast between the two markets is becoming the more interesting part of the story. Bitcoin ETFs experienced a broad weekly withdrawal across major funds, while Ether ETFs finished the same period with a strong surge of demand concentrated at the end of the week.

For investors watching ETF flows as a window into institutional appetite, the divergence offers a useful snapshot of where money was moving during a volatile stretch. Bitcoin remained in positive territory for September, but Ether funds managed to turn a mixed week into a meaningful inflow tally.

Bitcoin ETFs may have lost momentum in the latest session cluster, but the numbers do not tell a straightforward story of retreat. They show a market where flows can reverse quickly—and where investor attention can shift just as fast.
