Robinhood Chain Is Surging as Four Forces Push It Toward $1 Billion

Robinhood Chain is growing at a pace that is hard to ignore. Since launching on July 1, the network’s total value locked has climbed to nearly $1 billion, while daily decentralized exchange volume recently reached $1.88 billion.

That momentum is being driven by more than Robinhood’s recognizable name. StoneX analyst Mark Palmer points to four forces behind the network’s early traction: its brand, permissionless design, subsidized gas fees and a developing link between memecoins and tokenized stocks.

Palmer outlined the factors in a note to clients on Monday, after initiating a buy rating and a $170 price target on Robinhood stock. He described the chain’s traction as “impressive by any measure” and used the note to address questions from investors.

The first ingredient is Robinhood itself. The brokerage’s brand gives the chain an unusually visible starting point, while viral moments can quickly spill into onchain activity. Palmer highlighted the CASHCAT token as one example, after Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev followed the token’s account.

Then there is the chain’s permissionless structure. Developers can launch tokens without needing approval, creating a steady stream of new projects and trading opportunities. Pons, according to Palmer, has been facilitating as many as 10,000 token launches per day, including roughly 25,000 launches on Sept. 2.

Robinhood Chain Has a Memecoin Problem — and an Opportunity

The third factor is simpler: incentives. Robinhood is subsidizing gas fees for wallet swaps above $5, reducing one of the small but persistent frictions that can discourage users from making onchain transactions.

The fourth is more unusual. Palmer describes a developing “flywheel” between memecoins and Robinhood’s tokenized stocks, where activity in one category can help generate attention for the other.

Long.xyz, a token launchpad built on Robinhood Chain, offers a clear example. The platform allows community tokens to launch alongside Robinhood’s tokenized stocks, creating a connection between meme-driven speculation and more conventional financial assets.

Palmer’s argument is that the relationship can reinforce itself. Interest in memecoins may pull users toward tokenized equities, while the presence of those stocks gives community tokens a financial story that can feed back into interest around them.

There is also a notable gap between Robinhood’s traditional user base and the people currently driving its blockchain activity. CoinDesk Research estimates that users of the Robinhood app account for only 1% to 2% of Chain transactions.

Most of the activity has instead come through trading terminals, Uniswap and token launchpads, according to Palmer. In other words, Robinhood Chain’s early audience appears to be largely crypto-native rather than an extension of the brokerage’s existing retail user base.

The network’s stablecoin figures add another layer to the story. Stablecoin market capitalization on Robinhood Chain crossed $1 billion last week, rising about 12% in a week and 72% over the past month.

USDG represents 67% of that total, while Ethena’s USDe accounts for another 30%. Together, the figures show that the chain’s growth is not limited to speculative tokens and decentralized trading. Stablecoin liquidity is becoming a substantial part of its activity, too.

Robinhood Chain is therefore expanding across several overlapping corners of crypto at once: token launches, decentralized exchanges, memecoins, tokenized stocks and stablecoins. Its early growth is being powered by a combination of Robinhood’s established brand and incentives designed to keep activity flowing once users arrive.
