The first staked TRX ETF is arriving in the US, giving traditional-market investors a new route into Tron without buying the token directly.
Canary Capital’s Canary Staked TRX ETF will begin trading Wednesday under the ticker TRXS. The fund adds another wrinkle to the expanding lineup of crypto investment products: exposure to a blockchain token, plus the rewards generated by staking it.
Tron founder Justin Sun said the launch reflects the network’s growing role beyond crypto trading.
“The launch of the Canary Staked TRX ETF demonstrates the growing recognition of the TRON network as critical infrastructure for the global digital economy and provides institutional investors with a new way to access a network that is already powering real-world financial activity at scale,” Sun said in a statement.
At roughly $32.1 billion, TRX ranks as the eighth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, according to The Block’s price data. The new TRX ETF is designed to capture more than the token’s market exposure, however.
Why the TRX ETF is leaning into staking
The fund can also benefit from Tron’s proof-of-stake mechanism. Staking rewards earned through the network will be reflected in the ETF’s net asset value, according to Canary Capital.
That structure puts a familiar Wall Street wrapper around one of crypto’s more distinctly native features. Investors are getting exposure to TRX while the fund handles the mechanics of participating in staking.
The timing also reflects Tron’s growing importance in stablecoin payments. The blockchain is widely used for stablecoin transfers, helped by its relatively low costs and efficient transaction processing.
Canary Capital CEO Steven McClurg framed the network as infrastructure for an increasingly stablecoin-heavy financial system.
“As stablecoin adoption continues to grow globally, TRON has become a critical piece of the infrastructure powering digital asset payments and settlement,” McClurg said in the statement on Wednesday. “We believe investors are increasingly looking beyond digital assets themselves and toward the networks driving real-world blockchain adoption.”
For Canary Capital, the TRX ETF is another addition to a broader push into crypto funds. Over the past year, the firm has launched ETFs tied to HBAR, Litecoin, and XRP.
The Tron fund arrives at a moment when crypto ETFs are increasingly becoming less about simply holding a token and more about packaging the mechanics of digital assets for conventional investors. TRXS adds staking to that equation, bringing a feature native to blockchain networks into a format more familiar to US financial markets.
